The Fayette County Commission on Dec. 12 is expected to approve the contract to have a traffic signal and turn lanes installed at the intersection of Ga. Highway 92 North and Veterans Parkway.
Commissioners and Public Works staff have been seeking a solution to the traffic issues at the intersection, and working with the Ga. Department of Transportation to have a traffic signal approved for the intersection.
The low bid for the project was from Southeastern Site Development, Inc. at a cost of $658,039.
The project will include outfitting the intersection with a traffic signal and turn lanes.
The project is being funded by 2004 SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) revenues.
Commissioners at the Dec. 12 meeting are also expected to approve the Fayette County 2019 Comprehensive Transportation Plan and Path Design Guidelines and the 2017 SPLOST corridor studies for Banks Road, Sandy Creek Road, Tyrone and Palmetto roads and Ga. Highway 279.
It’s about time I have seen many accidents since the intersection was built. I don’t even go that way heading north I just go to lees mill rd traffic light.
