The “Are You Faster Than a Superhero?” 5K fundraiser to benefit a 10-year-old recently diagnosed with a brain tumor will be held Nov. 16 at Fayetteville Elementary School.
Southern Conservation Trust (SCT) Executive Director Katie Pace said 10-year-old Lydia, daughter of SCT’s Director of Conservation and Outdoor Education Nick Kilburg, was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in July.
“Since the diagnosis, their lives have been turned upside down as they’ve been at St. Jude’s in Memphis fighting this battle that she’s named ‘Billy the Tumor,’” said Pace. “Over the years, Lydia has become one of our own, leading Haunted Hikes, making social media posts and just helping us with everything we do. We love her like one of our own.”
Pace said the SCT team would like to extend a personal invitation to the community to help Lydia #BeatBilly!
Join the effort on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at Fayetteville Elementary School in Fayetteville for the Are You Faster Than a Superhero 5k. It’s only $35 to join the race and you can even race virtually if you can’t join us in Fayetteville.
The race will begin at 8:30 am, so get there early. Please meet at the parking lot of Fayetteville Elementary at 490 Hood Avenue.
Pace said every penny raised through race registrations and sponsorships will go directly to the Kilburg Family to help them #BeatBilly.
