In celebration of National Manufacturing Day on October 4th, the Fayette County Public School System partnered with the Fayette Chamber of Commerce and local manufacturing companies to bring approximately 225 eighth grade STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) students from Flat Rock Middle School on tours of local industries.

The students and their teachers met with industry professionals and learned about the wide variety of career opportunities in manufacturing within the community.

With safety gear on, students had an opportunity to tour TDK Components USA, Hoshizaki America, Universal Environmental Services, Sigvaris, NAECO LLC, MOBA Corporation, and Alta Refrigeration.

National Manufacturing Day is a celebration event designed to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. This is also an opportunity to showcase the work manufacturers do on a daily basis and to educate students, teachers, and community members on the integral part manufacturers play in the local, national and global economy.
