Approval for the exterior look of the new Starbucks at The Avenue in Peachtree City came with smooth sailing at the Sept. 9 meeting of the Peachtree City Planning Commission.
The vote of approval was 3-0 by Vice Chairman J.T. Rabun and commissioners Paul Gresham and Lisa Ann Curtis. Non-voting alternate Commissioner Scott Ritenour was also at the meeting. Chairman Frank Destadio and Commissioner Michael Link were absent.
The current Starbucks is located a short distance away to the west. The move will expand the coffee shop to approximately 2,500 sq. ft. and, per commission approval in prior months, will include a drive-thru window.
City planning staff recommended approval, saying the proposal meets the standards of the Land Development Ordinance and the Corridor 54 guidelines.
Requirements call for front facades being at least 80 percent brick or stone and side facades being at least 50 percent brick or stone.
Starbucks will return to the commission later with a signage proposal.
