Fayette Democratic Women fundraiser luncheon supports local nonprofits The Fayette Democratic Women organization will be hosting its highly–anticipated annual fundraising event on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City.
During the event, the organization will honor The Eden Project, a nonprofit helping Georgia Veterans reintegrate with their families and community by providing programs to cope with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and opioid addiction; and Gigi’s House, a nonprofit helping young girls escape the abyss of human trafficking in Georgia and reenter society with the skills they need to succeed.
“We are so proud to recognize these deserving nonprofits who are making a significant difference in the lives of young victims and veterans in our communities, one person at a time, one day at a time,” FDW President Pearline Green said. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to these two non-profits.
In 2018, the Fayette Democratic Women also honored and donated to two other local nonprofits: Discovering Soldiers Potential II and Grandparents and Kin Raising Children. In stressful and challenging times, all of these organizations step forward to fill the gap as many vulnerable children and victims, and returning veterans stand in need of assistance and support.
The theme for the 2019 event is “Women Will Unite to Stand Up, Speak Up, and Show Up.” This can’t-miss event will feature a delicious brunch, and a meaningful program, followed by an opportunity to peruse and bid on silent auction items and themed baskets.
The featured speaker for the signature event is political activist Jon Ossoff, who will lead a panel of progressive women leaders in a conversation about the history and future for women committed to be the voices of change. Panelists include Georgia Senators Jen Jordan and Valencia Seay, and Georgia Representative Brenda Lopez Romero.
The public is invited. Tickets are $50 and are available on the Fayette Democratic Women website: fayettedemocraticwomen.org/events/ and on Eventbrite: bit.ly/fdwbrunch2019.
