Peachtree City man jailed in Statesboro for kidnapping, threats

A Peachtree City man has been charged by Statesboro police with false imprisonment and making terroristic threats and acts after threatening his former girlfriend and holding her current boyfriend at gunpoint.

Tanner McClain Hand, 21, of Bridlepath Lane was charged with terroristic threats and acts, false imprisonment and second-degree criminal damage to property in the June 12 incident and was taken to the Bulloch County Jail where he remains without bond, according to a June 14 report in the Statesboro Herald.

According to the news story, Hand first “keyed” his ex-girlfriend’s car, carving vulgar words into the paint, and then “threatened (by text) to kill her and shoot up a couple of apartment complexes,” if she did not answer his texts, said Statesboro Police Det. Sgt. Patrick Haralson in the June 14 article.

Haralson said Hand then found the woman’s current boyfriend, forcing him into a vehicle at gunpoint, and sat in the car with him, holding the gun in his lap with his finger on the trigger, aimed at the victim, the Statesboro Herald reported.

Haralson in the article also noted that Hand reportedly told the other man to stay away from the woman, that “she was crazy and he was going to end up killing her.”

Neither victim was injured during the ordeal, the news report said.
