A June 6 traffic accident on Veterans Parkway claimed the life of a 16-year-old after he lost control of his vehicle, entered the oncoming lane and was struck by another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was treated and later released with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sheriff Barry Babb said 16-year-old Fayetteville resident Brian Nguyen at approximately 10:50 a.m. was travelling southbound on Veterans Parkway in his Honda Accord between Lees Mill Road and Eastin Road when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the northbound lane.
The driver of a Volkswagen Jetta, a 19-year-old Peachtree City woman, was travelling northbound and struck the Accord broadside after it entered the northbound lane.
Nguyen was pronounced deceased at the scene, Babb said.
The female driver was transported with non-life-threatening injuries and released a few days later, said Babb.
The two drivers were the sole occupants of the vehicles.
Babb said the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
