During its consent agenda Nov. 15, the Peachtree City Council voted to put its practices against discrimination in the form of an ordinance.

The ordinance applies to all licensing, permitting and approval requests found in the city’s code.

“No license, permit or approval shall be denied nor shall that applicant be given less favorable treatment as to time, place or manner requirements or conditions on the account of the race, color, creed, religion, gender, domestic relationship status, familial status, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation or gender identity of the applicant and participants in the business, undertaking, event or activity to be carried out by the applicant under such license, permit or approval,” reads the ordinance.

As written, the ordinance applies only to actions taken by the city in its licensing functions.
