East Coweta made short work of this year’s trip to the Georgia High School Association’s state softball tournament, marching through the AAAAAAA bracket with four straight wins to take home its second straight state crown.

Opening last Thursday morning with a 2-1 win over Grayson, the Indians downed Mill Creek 4-2 the next day to reach the winner’s bracket final of the double-elimination tournament in Columbus.

The team took the field twice Saturday and never gave up a run. An 8-0 victory over Lassiter in the morning led to the championship and a rematch against Mill Creek which ECHS won 9-0.

The final 2018 record stands at 32-2. The 2017 squad finished 36-0.
