A Fayette County school bus driver was cited in a Thursday morning collision with an oncoming vehicle on Ga. Highway 74 South. The bus was transporting five students, none of whom were injured.
“The accident involved a special education bus. There were five students on board. All were checked out by emergency management services on scene. There were no injuries, including the driver. The students were transported to school,” said school system spokesperson Melinda Berry-Dreisbach.
Sheriff Barry Babb said the accident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. when the bus driver was turning left into the Starr’s Mill school complex from Hwy. 74 South.
The bus was struck near the side door area by a vehicle traveling northbound.
EMTs arriving at the scene checked all those in the school bus and the driver of the northbound vehicle, determining that all were alright, said Babb.
Babb said that based on the investigation and witness statements, the bus driver was cited for failure to yield while turning left.
