A 6-acre parcel slated for commercial space along the west side of MacDuff Parkway in the Everton subdivision nearly a dozen years ago has been approved to be the site of 42 townhomes. The request was approved Aug. 27 by the Peachtree City Planning Commission.
Commissioners approved the request on a 4-1 vote, with Commissioner Jack Bernard opposed.
The site is located in Phase 8 of the Everton subdivision on the west side of the parkway.
Noting that the original plan showing commercial on the site was approved in 2007, Pulte Homes representative Dan Fields at the meeting cited the significant amount of retail developed in the west village since that time as the reason for requesting the change.
“Rather than competing with them we’d like to build townhomes,” said Fields, explaining that real estate agents and customers are requesting townhomes.
The townhomes would run from 1,800-2,200 sq. ft. and come with a price point averaging $250,000.
The previously-adopted master plan called for six acres of commercial use, with the zoning text noting that any substantive change would require rezoning.
