It looks like COSTCO wants to come to the large Fischer Crossing retail area in east Coweta County, giving Fayette County residents a second wholesaler within a mile of Peachtree City.
The request to set two Aug. 21 public hearings pertains to COSTCO incorporating a 5.62-acre pond area currently zoned Rural Conversation into the commercially-zoned property on the northeast side of the intersection of Fischer Road and Ga. Highway 34 and to remove the existing loop road situated inside the development will come before the Coweta County Commission on July 24.
The requests address COSTCO’s desire to own the stormwater management pond located adjacent to where the store would be situated and to eliminate the interparcel loop road that is no longer part of the overall development, county planning staff said.
Long-zoned as a major commercial area, the only two commercial offerings to date are the Sam’s Club, directly across Fischer Road, and the NCG Theater a short distance to the east.
Potential future plans for the northeast section of Fischer Crossing include retail space and a residential retirement community.
