Peachtree City Army recruiter facing child sex charges

A Newnan man and U.S. Army recruiter working in Peachtree City was arrested June 19 on child molestation charges.

Brandon Miles Ross, 26, (photo above) was charged with statutory rape, aggravated child molestation, furnishing alcohol to a minor and enticing a child for indecent purposes, according to Newnan Police Department spokesman Greg VanSant.

Ross was arrested at the Peachtree City Army recruiting office.

Van Sant said Ross met the 15-year-old girl at a recruiting event at Newnan High School and subsequently requested her contact information. He later took the girl to his apartment where he furnished alcohol and engaged in sexual acts, VanSant said.

VanSant said the girl, approximately two months later, told a school counselor about the incident. The counselor contacted the school resource officer who filed a report with Newnan police investigators.

Investigators conducted a forensic interview with the girl to determine what had occurred and to obtain details about the apartment, said VanSant.

Ross was subsequently interviewed by investigators while, simultaneously, a search warrant of his residence was executed, said VanSant.

Ross told investigators that he was at the recruiting event, but that he did not know the girl, VanSant said.

VanSant said the girl in her interview accurately described the type of alcohol in the apartment and its location, along with other types of items found in the apartment, said VanSant.
