Apsilon Hotels Group has announced plans for their Crowne Plaza Hotel in Peachtree City to generate 25 percent of its electrical needs by building the largest commercial rooftop solar photovoltaic system in Peachtree City.

The 642 kilowatt solar power generating system is scheduled for completion in August of 2018.

“Our intent is to minimize the hotel’s environmental impact and carbon footprint by making the property more energy efficient and reducing its reliance on fossil fuels,” said CEO Raj Patel.

Crowne Plaza Hotel invested in a full audit of energy-saving possibilities and the audit showed the solar potential of the hotel’s location. That prompted a vision for a rooftop photo-voltaic installation. This project is the latest in a continued effort to reduce the carbon emissions at the Crowne Plaza in Peachtree City.

The installations of Eaton energy efficient lighting/controls, electric/hybrid car charging stations, Rinnai energy efficient water heaters and water conserving fixtures are examples of already completed projects.

Alternative Energy Southeast (altenergyse.com), a company based in Georgia, has been contracted to build the solar panel system for Apsilon Hotels. This system will offset over 24,000 tons of carbon over its life, the equivalent of planting over half-a-million trees.

Upon completion, hotel guests will be able to see live data on an LED display in the lobby including solar power output, total energy generated from the time of installation and the equivalent greenhouse gas emissions saved.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 201 Aberdeen Parkway in Peachtree City, is owned and operated by Apsilon Hotels Group.
