Fayette County is looking for volunteers to help gather information for a countywide path system.
Fayette County Clerk Tameca White said the county is in the initial stages of updating the Fayette Transportation Plan to create a new strategy to implement a countywide path system.
“In an effort to assess current usage levels, staff and volunteers will be out at strategic locations conducting counts and intercept surveys. The goal is to find out how many people are walking, biking and using golf carts at each location,” said White. “It will also be important to gather information on user preferences. For example, why are they walking or biking, what do they enjoy about using golf carts and what could make their experience better?”
White said data collection will take place in Fayette County parks in Fayetteville, Peachtree City and Tyrone on Wednesday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 11.
“We hope to gather feedback and usage data that will help inform our path planning efforts throughout the county,” said Fayette County Public Works Director Phil Mallon.
White said the county is currently requesting community volunteers to assist in the counting and survey efforts. Anyone interested can sign up at https://docs.google.com/SurveyVolunteerSignUp.
Volunteers will be sent detailed information about conducting the counts and surveys, specific locations maps and information about where to collect the survey forms.
