In its ongoing quest to create more options for connectivity in the city, the Fayetteville City Council will consider an agreement with DOT to build a pedestrian crossing at Lester Road and Ga. Highway 54, near Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

The project is funded through the Federal Transportation Enhancement program and dispersed through the GDOT in the amount of $328,659 which is an 80 percent portion of the total estimated project amount of $410,824. There is a local 20 percent match associated with the project in the amount of $82,164, which will be funded with the use of SPLOST.

The path is part of the city’s transportation plans to create more transportation options for residents and visitors in the city.

In other action, the city will consider approving the city’s zoning map. The new map will add recent actions by the city, such as the rezoning of property on Veterans Parkway for a new business park.

The City Council meets at 6 p.m.
