Terry Lee Barch, 71 passed away on May 20, 2017 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Terry was born to Lawrence and Eileen (Lord) Barch on February 27, 1946 in Saint Petersburg, Fla.

Terry served as a paratrooper in the US Army during Vietnam and also served in Germany and Alaska during the Cold War.  He trained as a master mechanic in the Army and attended Trade College after high school.  Terry was a mechanic for over 40 years and a longtime resident of Forest Park.  Terry worked as a civil servant for almost 30 years at Fort Gillem and Fort McPherson and retired in 2002.  After retiring from the Federal Government, he started his own remodeling business.

Terry had numerous hobbies, but his biggest passion was Boy Scouts.  He was involved in Scouting for more than 25 years, and he helped numerous young men, including his son, earn Eagle Scout.  For his years of dedication to scouting, he was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver award in 1987 by General Colin Powell.

Terry is survived by his loving children, Scott Barch of Fayetteville, Ga. and Diana (Barch) McKenzie of Anthem, AZ; his sister, Martha Gregory of Jonesboro, Ga.; and his nine grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Terry’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the LDS Chapel at 2021 Redwine Road in Fayetteville, Ga.   The family will receive visitors afterwards.  In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations in Terry’s name to The Atlanta Area Council Friends of Scouting: http://www.atlantabsa.org/support-bsa/friends-of-scouting
