A third film studio has plans to locate in Fayette County. Cinema South Studios plans to construct six soundstages, workshops and office space on Ga. Highway 138 in north Fayette at the Fulton County line.

Cinema South Studios co-owner Alvin Williams, an entertainment executive in the music, television and film industries, said the site is situated on 24 acres along Hwy. 138, immediately east of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School.

Williams said the project is currently in the funding phase.

The Hwy. 138 site will include an initial six 19,800 sq. ft. concrete tilt-wall soundstages, workshops, office and production support facilities, Williams said.

The idea is to expand the site into a full-service picture/post-production facility supporting digital and film workflows within the 200,000 sq. ft plus production complex, said Williams.

Fayette County Planning Director Pete Frisina said the property was zoned GB (general business) in 2013 and will accommodate plans for the site.

Williams said Cinema South Studios is meant to be a “one-stop shop for movie studios, filmmakers and production companies.”

Cinema South Studios expects to call Fayette County home, along with Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville and Founders Studios in Tyrone.
