The April 6 meeting of the Peachtree City Council will include consideration of the annexation of Heritage Assisted Living on Ga. Highway 54 East and a potential bid award for paving projects.

Long in the making, Heritage has submitted the Step Two annexation application for the 3.5-acre property situated along the north side of the Hwy. 54 East.

Heritage, which includes 49 personal care apartments, was subject to a failing septic system and was connected to the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) system earlier this year.

It was in October 2014 that the City Council approved the facility’s Step One annexation application.

The Fayette County Commission at a recent meeting had no objection to the annexation request.

The city’s two-step annexation process requires that a developer present the proposal so the council can determine if the request should proceed through the annexation and zoning process.

The first step of the two-step process provides a general overview of the proposed annexation.

If recommended by the council, the second step would allow city staff to work with the applicant to develop a detailed analysis of the proposal, develop a schematic master plan for the property and develop a recommendation for the Planning Commission and City Council.

The council on April 6 will also consider bids for local maintenance and improvement grants (LMIG) paving projects.

Staff is recommending the low bid from Atlanta Paving and Construction at approximately $1.353 million. The two remaining bids were approximately $1.38 million and $1.54 million.

There are sufficient funds budgeted and available in the Public Works Street Resurfacing Program to cover the expense.
