Employees of the Auto Zone store on Ga. Highway 54 West in Fayetteville were held at gunpoint on March 10 while two armed men robbed the store and stole an employee’s vehicle. There were no injuries in the incident.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Mike Whitlow said two black males in their late 20s or early 30s and brandishing handguns entered the Auto Zone store across from the Grady Avenue intersection at approximately 8:50 p.m.

Whitlow said the men moved employees into a back room of the store, then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store safe.

The men then demanded that one of employee give up her car keys. Whitlow said the vehicle was later found behind a nearby retirement home.

Whitlow noted that the employees were threatened but not physically harmed, though they were shaken.

One of the suspects was described as being 6-feet in height with a slender build and a pointed nose and wearing a blue hoodie. The other man had his face covered and was wearing a gray plaid jacket, Whitlow said.

Whitlow said investigators are processing evidence at the scene and are reviewing video surveillance from other businesses.
