Big talent featured at FFUMC’s Candlelight Concert this Sunday

The 16th Annual Candlelight Concert at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will offer beautiful music with big talent once again. Eric Lindsey and Jennifer Townshend will join pianist Rick Massengale, violinist Sonia Squires,  and the Candlelight Orchestra for this Christmas tradition. The concert will be held Sunday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.

“We welcome one of our own, Eric Lindsey, to the Candlelight Concert along with Jennifer Townshend, a phenomenal soprano,” said Rick Massengale, music director.  “It promises to be a thrilling night of music along with the fabulous Candlelight Orchestra.”

Eric Lindsey, bass-baritone, grew up in FFUMC and graduated from Whitewater High School. He studied at Young Harris College, Kennesaw State University, and the University of Houston before performing for various professional opera companies including Opera Theatre Pittsburgh, Sarasota Opera, Opera North (Lebanon, N.H.), Opera in Williamsburg (Va.), and Shreveport Opera. He currently lives in New York City.

Originally from the Midwest, Jennifer Townshend holds degrees from Capital University and the Chicago College of Performing Arts. She did her apprenticeship with companies including Sarasota Opera and Opera New Jersey.

Since transitioning into the category of principal soprano, she has sung with Sarasota Opera, Music By the Lake, and a number of opera companies in New York City. She currently lives in New York City.
