With 240 BILLION Pennie’s estimated in circulation, it’s going to be a long time before we run out.

CSX Railroad has advised Peachtree City that a flagman will be on duty on rail tracks beginning Dec. 12 in the north part of the city. That’s important because that technicality is required to be met to allow construction of the MacDuff Parkway bridge at Senoia Road to begin.
That will give a second way into and out of Wilksmoor Village on the city’s west side. The village has been stuck with one way in and out onto busy Ga. Highway 54 for several years. The change will affect hundreds of west village residents, evetually to be thousands.
In the planning for what seemed like a very long time, Peachtree City Manager Jon Rorie at the Dec. 1 council meeting said CSX announced that a required flagman will be stationed at the bridge site at the parkway and Senoia Road beginning Dec. 12.
Rorie noted that construction activities will be required to cease when each train passes the location.
While there is no defining timeline for the bridge project, Rorie said the bridge should be completed by August or September next year, weather permitting.
As for the remainder of the 1.8-mile MacDuff Parkway extension, Rorie on Nov. 17 said the roadway is now open.
Once open to an unhindered traffic flow after the bridge completion, the parkway will extend from Ga. Highway 74 North and Kedron Drive on the north to Ga. Highway 54 West on the south.
The developer bears the cost of both the parkway extension and the bridge.
The existing subdivisions in Wilksmoor Village, including one apartment complex, have a total of 1,454 units, while the three subdivisions approved for construction total 1,329 units. In total, Wilksmoor will eventually have 2,783 residential units.
The developer is permitted a maximum of 100 certificates of occupancy in new subdivisions prior to the final completion of the parkway and bridge. And to date, few homes have been constructed along the parkway.
