Realignment underway on tunnel path

Crews will be realigning the path on the north side of Highway 54 leading into the tunnel by McDonald’s (just east of Peachtree Parkway), according to Peachtree City officials.

The goal is to slow golf carts coming down the hill from Stevens Entry before they make the turn into the tunnel, and to provide more distance so cart drivers turning into the tunnel can see traffic coming in the opposite direction through the tunnel, officials said.

The path has been marked to indicate where changes will be made, and some of the trees/underbrush will also be removed to allow for the realignment.

Work will be ongoing over the next two to three weeks.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution when workers are present.
