Peachtree City has begun billing for the 2016 golf cart registration program, which began with owners who live outside Peachtree City in early October. Peachtree City residents should receive their bills by the end of the month.
Due to a shortened renewal period this year, the city is strongly encouraging cart owners to use the new online payment feature to avoid long lines at City Hall, accessible from the city’s main web page at www.peachtree-city.org.
“We’re entering the time of year when we also renew the Occupational Taxes for all 1,800 of Peachtree City’s businesses,” said spokesperson Betsy Tyler. “With the reduced timing for cart registration, the online option, which does not impose a service charge, is an excellent option. Cart owners will enter their decal number and golf cart ID (provided in the bill) to renew their registration.”
The billing amounts will also change this year, following fee changes adopted by the City Council in January to help support Peachtree City’s 100-mile path system. Resident cart registrations have shifted to a three-year registration period for residents. Non-residents will continue to pay on an annual basis.
This year, Peachtree City residents will pay $45 for a three-year registration and receive green stickers that are valid through 2019. Non-residents will pay a one-year $15 registration plus the yearly $100 path user fee that equates to the average annual property taxes that Peachtree City residents pay in support of the $1.7 million in path maintenance each year.
“Cart owners will keep their current white, numbered decals and receive a supplemental sticker indicating the year of registration expiration,” said Tyler.
Residents who have sold a cart or relocated in the past five years without changing their cart registration should email Tyler at info@peachtree-city.org to ensure their bill goes to the correct address and avoid late charges. Tyler can also be contacted with any questions or billing errors that might occur.
