Members of Fayetteville Junior Girl Scout troop 12301 earned their Bronze Award by helping cats in our area. The girls made close to 30 blankets for kittens up for adoption from the Southern Crescent Canine and Cat Rescue.
The agency indicated the need for these blankets because when a kitten is born, they are blind and deaf. The sense of smell is very important to them. These blankets will be given to them at birth and go to their forever home when they are adopted. The blankets will comfort the kittens in their new home since it will be a familiar scent when everything around them is new.
The girls learned a lot about sewing with both a machine and hand sewing through this project. This project is a continuation of another Junior troop’s Bronze award. More information about the project is available at www.southerncrescentcaninerescue.com.
The Bronze Award is the highest award that a Junior Girl Scout can earn.
