A discussion on projects to include in a potential SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) continued at the June 3 meeting of the Peachtree City Council and will continue again on June 7.

City Manager Jon Rorie previously said that a five-year SPLOST would be expected to generate approximately $37 million while a six-year SPLOST would generate approximately $42 million.

The council on June 3 agreed to break the SPLOST list into Tier 1 projects, in the event a five-year SPLOST passes, and with a smaller number of projects termed as Tier 2 in the event that a six-year measure passes.

The council will meet again on June 7 to finalize the list.

The Fayette County Commission in the coming weeks will decide if a countywide SPLOST will be included on the November ballot.
