ASCAPA hosts info session

At the session, there were nearly 100 young women and their mothers who came to hear three local sorority members and the keynote speaker, Alpha Chi Omega notable Kitty deKieffer, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation in Centennial, Colo.

The three local sorority members were:

Jessica Harper Guasco, who graduated with distinction from Sandy Creek High School in 2003 where she was in the Air Force Junior ROTC and served as the Cadet Vice Wing Commander. Among other activities, she was on the varsity swim team all 4 years and team captain 3 Years. At Auburn she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and in Air Force ROTC where she rose to be the Cadet Wing Commander. She was commissioned as an Air Force officer when she graduated in 2007 and served 4 years active duty as a finance officer in Minot, North Dakota. During her time there, she was first runner-up to Miss North Dakota twice and was deployed to Afghanistan. She is now a financial analyst for Noble Energy’s Africa Business Unit and spends every other month working out of their Equatorial Guinea offices.

Marguerite Murrell, a 2014 graduate of McIntosh High School, where she was in the National Honor Society, District Honors Chorus, and was a junior marshal among many other things. She is now at Georgia Tech majoring in computer science. She is an undergraduate teaching assistant and the co-founder, CEO & web developer of Motif Media, a web platform start-up company. She is also a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the Nothin’ But Treble a cappella group.

Melanie Garlock,who graduated from McIntosh in 2015, where she was president of the PALS Club, captain of the softball team and in the Beta Club, among many other things. She is now at UGA where she is a member of Sigma Kappa. She is a Junior Panhellenic Delegate and she is involved with the UGA Heroes.

ASCAPA recruitment co-chairs Duff and Eifert have pointed out that the deadline for all rec request packets to be submitted to ASCAPA is June 10. More information can be found at www.ascapa.org, where interested local girls can also download the required forms and instructions.
