The Fayette County School System’s graduating class of 2016 will be front and center for graduation ceremonies at the county’s five high schools on May 20 where 1,601 graduates will receive their diplomas.
Listed below by school is information on the number of graduates, the number of students planning to enroll in post-secondary education and the total scholarship awards.
All graduations ceremonies will be held on May 20 at 7 p.m.
Graduation ceremonies at Fayette County High School will be held in Tiger Stadium. Inclement weather plans will have the graduation on May 21 at 10 a.m. in the stadium.
The FCHS graduating class is expected to include 308 seniors with approximately 270 planning to enroll in post-secondary education.
FCHS students received more than $6 million in scholarships, excluding the Georgia HOPE Scholarship.
Graduation ceremonies at McIntosh High School will be held in McIntosh Stadium. Inclement weather plans will have the graduation on May 21 at 10 a.m. in the stadium.
The McIntosh graduating class is expected to include 373 seniors. McIntosh students received $3.7 million in scholarships, excluding HOPE.
The number of students planning to enroll in post-secondary education was not available at press time.
Graduation for Sandy Creek High School will be held in the Sandy Creek stadium. Inclement weather plans have the ceremonies scheduled for May 21 at 10 a.m. in the stadium.
Sandy Creek is expected to graduate 243 seniors who have received $1.84 million in scholarships, excluding HOPE.
Starr’s Mill High School will hold graduation ceremonies at Panther Stadium, with inclement weather plans calling for ceremonies at 10 a.m. on May 21. If heavy rain, thunder or lightning are present on May 21 the ceremonies will be held in the gym. In that event, guests will be limited to four tickets per graduate.
Starr’s Mill is expected to graduate 336 seniors with 311 planning to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year college or technical school.
Starr’s Mill students have received more than $11 million in scholarships, excluding HOPE.
Whitewater High School graduation ceremonies will be held in Whitewater Stadium. Inclement weather plans call for graduation on May 21 at 10 a.m. in the stadium.
Whitewater is expected to graduate 341 seniors with 310 planning to enroll in post-secondary education.
A total scholarship of monies received by students was not available at press time.
All five Fayette high schools graduated 1,655 seniors in 2015, 1,671 seniors in 2014, and 1,663 seniors in 2013.
