The Peachtree City SDA Church hosted its Third Annual Community Outreach Health Fair and Blood Drive on Sunday, March 20, in its Family Life Center.  The health fair is one of the main community outreach events for the Peachtree City SDA Church during the year, with the number of attendees and exhibitors growing annually.

The event is totally free to the public, including the offering of an all-day salad bar, and affords those who attend information and insight into a wide variety of health-related topics. This year’s community attendance topped the previous two years’ attendance by far.

This year, more than 25 health care professionals exhibited their services and/or products during the five-hour fair. Companies and organizations in attendance demonstrated their particular services which included massage therapy, breastfeeding, nutrition, family counseling, personal training, music therapy, senior care, special needs, chiropractic services, cancer support, and many more.

A major exhibitor at the health fair was The American Red Cross who kept the blood donation chairs “pumping” with 38 units of blood given during the event.

There were also many health tests available including glucose testing, blood pressure checks, body mass index evaluations, cholesterol checks, and health age appraisals.

The National Kidney Foundation was a new exhibitor this year and offered many tests, including kidney disease testing, which many people took advantage of.

In addition, Pastor Nate Elias, senior pastor of the Peachtree City SDA Church, manned a spiritual support booth and also shared upcoming church events with those who attended from the community.

A free salad bar was available all day for those who attended and volunteered.

Nancy Cale, member of the Peachtree City Church, is the main organizer of the now annual event.  She says the church endeavors to work with other local churches, both SDA and non-SDA, as well as businesses and other service organizations to help grow the health fair’s “reach” each year.

The health fair provides a forum for networking health professionals to help and educate members of the local community.
