Rachel Fowler of Fayetteville and Jordan Thomas of Fairburn are among 588 other freshman cadets that have recently been officially sworn into the South Carolina Corps of Cadets at The Citadel.

The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines: Katie New of Fayetteville, University of Alabama; Sharme Ridley of Peachtree City, Kennesaw State University; Constance Demi Willis of Fayetteville, Jacksonville University; Katie Wilson of Fayetteville, Mississippi State University.

Recent recognition at Shorter University’s Awards Day included the following students: Alisha Provence of Fayetteville, Communication Arts Award; Gavin Grant of Fayetteville, Computer Information Systems Award; Taylor Doster of Brooks, Early Childhood Education Award; and Kari Chambers of Fayetteville, Middle Grades Education Award.

Ansley Shelton Whiten of Fayetteville, a student at Mercer University, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
