George Henry Allen, II, 79, of Tyrone passed away on March 24, 2016. He was born on February 7, 1937 in Port Huron, Mich. to George Randall and Marjorie Allen.  

George attended Culver Military Academy in Indianapolis and later the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He graduated from Washington Jefferson College with a degree in economics.  George enjoyed a noteworthy career in Industrial Sales and management, was a patent holder and business owner of Corr-Trol International. Additionally, he served as chief of several volunteer fire departments.   After George accepted Christ as his Savior, he followed him passionately.  He was active in Gideons’ International where he held several leadership positions, and also participated in a number of mission trips.  For the past several years he has been a Chaplain at Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport.  

George was preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife of 31 years, Jeannie Allen; his daughter, Karen and Rick Gatten of Texas; his son, Keith and Donna Allen of Virginia; his daughter, Kirsten Allen of Texas; and his son, Kevin and Lesa Allen of North Carolina; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Judy and Ron Unger of Texas.

The funeral service was held at 12 noon on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Chapel of Jonesboro First Baptist Church.  The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the church. Burial was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst, Ga.
