Loyd Patrick Norton, born January 15, 1939 in Carrollton, Ga. passed away on March 22, 2016 after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Loyd and Madeline White Norton, formerly of Chamblee, Ga.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Susan G. Norton of Senoia, Ga., his son Steven Norton and his wife Kay Norton of Fayetteville, Ga., and his daughter Kim Evatt and her husband Dij Evatt of Decatur, Ga. as well as his grandchildren Lanie Norton, Zack Norton, Sophie Norton and Graham (Boo) Evatt, his sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Grover McDuffie of Lawrenceville, Ga., and nephews Tim and Patrick McDuffie.
He was a graduate of Mercer University, Colgate Rochester Divinity and the University of Georgia, and was an avid Bulldog fan. He retired from Crawford & Company in 1997, where he helped establish the beginnings of private rehabilitation as a line of business for the company, and then again from the State of Georgia in 2008, where he was in charge of transportation for special needs individuals.
In keeping with his sense of humor and personality, at his request, the family will hold a Celebration of His Life at a later date. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, friend and mentor.
