Peachtree City and Tyrone have been named two of Georgia’s safest cities by Safewise.com based on Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) crime data from 2014.
Ranked at No. 6, Peachtree City had .29 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 12.66 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Peachtree City was listed in the No. 5 position in the previous ranking.
At No. 7, Tyrone had .28 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 13.23 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Tyrone was listed in the No. 8 positon in the previous ranking.
Fayetteville also made the list at No. 29.
Georgia’s safest city was Summerville with .23 violent crime per 1,000 and 7.04 property crimes per 1,000.
Safewise.com used date from the FBI 2014 crime report and evaluated Georgia cities with populations larger than 4,000 based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft) in each city.
Cities that failed to submit and complete crime report to the FBI were not included in the Safewise.com report.
To further level the playing field, Safewise.com calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city.
