Qualifying for a variety of races in Fayette County began on March 7. By press time on Tuesday there were qualifiers for a dozen races in the May 24 primaries.
Republican qualifiers included incumbent Anne Jackson for Fayette County Probate Judge, incumbent Barry Babb for Fayette County Sheriff and Chief Deputy Tax Commissioner Kristie King for Fayette County Tax Commissioner.
In the Fayette County Commission races, incumbent Commissioner Randy Ognio qualified for the District 2 seat and former Peachtree City Mayor Don Haddix qualified for the county commission at-large seat.
Democratic qualifiers included Melissa Lohr for the District 1 seat on the Fayette County Board of Education, Ching Ching Yap qualified for the school board’s at-large seat and Rasheed (B.J.) Dawodu qualified for Fayette County Tax Commissioner.
Also qualifying for non-partisan Fayette County Magistrate Judge seats were Roy Black for Post 1, Kathy Brown Valencia for Post 2, Robert (Bob) Ruppenthal for Post 3 and James A. White for Post 4.
The Democrat and Republican primaries will be held May 24.
