This probably won’t appear in future Super Bowl beer commercials, even though it happened while the game was being played.

Two men got their Bud Light 12-pack first, then robbed a convenience store Sunday night in Fayetteville.

The Feb. 7 armed robbery occurred at the Flash Foods convenience store on North Glynn Street in Fayetteville when two men appeared to be purchasing beer then demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Mike Whitlow said the robbery occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. on Feb. 7 after two black males entered the store and picked up the beer.

“They then approached the register and asked for a pack of Newport cigarettes,” said Whitlow. “One of the males brandished a semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at the clerk and demanded cash from the register.”

Whitlow said the males fled the store with the beer, cigarettes and approximately $160 in cash.

There were no injuries during the robbery, said Whitlow.

“The males were observed by witnesses leaving in a white passenger car, believed to be a BMW, driving north on Ga. Hwy 85. Fayetteville patrol officers and Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects or vehicle,” said Whitlow.

The men are described as black males, both in their early 20s. One had dreadlocks and was wearing, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt under it, white tennis shoes and a black toboggan. The second male, who brandished the gun, had short hair and was wearing black pants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and black shoes, Whitlow said.

Fayetteville detectives are currently reviewing the store surveillance video as well as that of neighboring businesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 770-461-4441.
