A very light agenda awaits the Fayette County Board of Commissioners at the Jan. 28 regular meeting after the major announcement two weeks ago of a settlement agreement in the district voting lawsuit.

The only item of old business is discussion of the county’s ethics ordinance, an issue that was tabled at the Dec. 10 board meeting.

Two appointments to the Fayette County Board of Elections are being addressed by the commissioners, although they don’t actually make those appointments. The county clerk has requested authorization to file the required paperwork indicating that Darryl Hicks is being reappointed by the Fayette County Democratic Party as its representative, while Aaron Wright is a new appointment by the Fayette County Republican Party.

Both men will serve four-year terms beginning Feb. 1 and expiring Jan. 31, 2020.

In other new business, the commissioners will consider the adoption of a proposed new transportation ordinance which was discussed in December.

The consent agenda includes a staff-recommended $22,443 software purchase and approval of the disposition of $2,312.65 in tax refunds as recommended by the Tax Assessor’s Office, as well as approval of the Jan. 14 meeting minutes.

The meeting is scheduled to open with a presentation by Nichols, Cauley & Associates LLC on the results of the FY 2015 audit.
