It was a vote on what to many is a minor issue. Yet for those exiting the Home Depot area or Planterra Way onto Ga. Highway 54 West the Jan. 7 vote by the Peachtree City Council will likely be appreciated.

The unanimous vote will remove approximately 30 feet of median on Hwy. 54 on the east side of the intersection. That work will be concurrent with other roadway work occurring just to the west.

Removing the section of the median will make room for the elimination of the current split-phase left turns, where those exiting Planterra turn left heading westbound, then those turning left out of the Home Depot area can proceed eastbound. Once completed, the vehicles turning left from both directions will be able to do so at the same time.

The $18,000 sum will be funded through the Public Works budget.

Coming later will be the addition of another left turn lane on Planterra to help reduce the back-ups for those wanting to enter Hwy. 54 westbound.
