On January 7, 2016, at 12 noon, Horace Eugene Elliott, of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed from this earth to be in the presence of Christ Jesus for eternity.
Horace, also known as H.E., was born on August 18, 1928, and with the exception of a few years in Pittsburgh, Pa., was a long time native of Atlanta. Horace had a long career of 39 years at Nabisco in Atlanta and another 11 years at Chick-fil-A Corporate Office in Union City. He was a veteran of the National Guard and a graduate of Russell High School in East Point, Ga. An active member of New Hope Baptist Church, Fayetteville and a long-time member of Larry Reeves’ Sunday School Class for many years, Horace & Pattie served meals together for many functions at the church.
Horace was preceded in death by his son, Mark and grandson Zachary Elliott; his parents, George Paul and Emma Elliott; and his siblings, Virginia Velander, Paul Elliott & Mary Francis Elliott.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pattie; his daughter-in-law Robin Elliott; step-children, Terri Calhoun and Barry Odom. Horace was blessed with grandchildren, Kattie Calhoun, Karlie Calhoun, Jeremiah Odom and Sarah Odom, and was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Pop.”
Horace’s funeral service was at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville Chapel, with Pastor Barry Odom and Dr. Keith Moore officiating. Interment immediately followed the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park, Ga. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
