Last month, the Peachtree City Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted its 17th Truly Christmas event at the church. This holiday charity event, held annually on the Sunday night before Thanksgiving, is a special night for ladies only — a celebratory kick-off to the Christmas season with a focus on Jesus, the reason for the season. Approximately 40 volunteers, mostly men, helped with meal preparation and serving.
This year’s event was themed “Come Worship the King.” Approximately 25 ladies from the church and local community hosted lavishly-decorated tables, and attendance at this year’s event was nearly 200 women.
After a delicious three-course meal, the attendees were delighted by a Christmas program, starring over 20 children, ranging in ages from 6 to 19. The story of the birth of Jesus was portrayed and set to Christmas music. Musicians included vocalists Scott Barrett, Opal Melendez, Madison Davis, and Tony Montenegro.
All proceeds from the event went to four charities – Coweta CASA, Southwest Christian Care, the Peachtree City SDA Church’s Women’s Ministry, and The Real Life Center.
