A Palmetto man has been charged by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office with child molestation and incest in connection with incidents that occurred between 2010-2014. The man goes to trial in Coweta County in early 2016.

Russell K. Jones, 51, was charged with incest and two counts of child molestation, according to the Fayette County Jail records.

Sheriff Barry Babb in commenting on the case said Jones was married and living with a woman in Tyrone when the initial incident involving an underage female family member occurred.

The family later moved to Coweta County where other incidents of a similar nature occurred, Babb said.

Babb said Jones has been indicted in Coweta and is expected to go to trail in early 2016. Babb said the charges in Fayette essentially piggyback on the Coweta charges since similar incidents occurred in both counties.

Once the trial is completed in Coweta County Jones will go to trial in Fayette County, said Babb.
