Jerry Lee Anderson, age 78, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at the hospital in Fayetteville surrounded by family.
He was born July 18, 1937 in Anderson, Ind. to the late Arthur J. Anderson and Eva Anderson.
In 1955 Jerry graduated from Bedford High School in Indiana. After that he went on to get a bachelors degree from Purdue University in 1960. In July of 1960 Jerry was ordained at 2:30 p.m. on the 17th and in 1963 he graduated from Eastern Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and then in 1979 graduated with a Doctorate degree from Luther Rice Seminary. While in school Jerry served at Brown’s Valley Baptist Church, Germantown Mennonite Church and 3rd Baptist Church. After he finished his schooling he went on to serve Parker Ford Baptist Church, Lewis Creek Baptist Church, Elizabeth Baptist Church, Collingwood Baptist Church and Parkesburg Baptist Church. After retirement he served three interim positions at Pughtown Pa., Springield Pa. and Chapel Road, Pa.
Jerry was known for his sense of humor, storytelling, and his big bear hugs. His ministry and love for the Lord impacted many lives.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Janice Anderson and his children, Joyce Reed and husband David, Janeen Gilbert and husband Michael, Jim Ashcraft and wife Linda and Tracey Templeton and husband Dean. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ian Reed, Aaron Reed, Eric Gilbert, Brandon Gilbert, Missy Smith, Lee Smith, Kari Ashcraft, Sarah Geren, Hope Ashcraft, Kenny Perryman, Pamela Strong, Jaye Bell and great grandchild Shelby Smith. Also sister Jane Reebel and husband Gene and sister in law Darleen Hartman.
The memorial service was Thursday, December 17th at 7 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Riordan officiating.
