Motorists travelling Ga. Highway 54 West in Peachtree City just got a Christmas present from the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT).

More in the form of a reprieve, lane closures associated with work on the continuous green-T intersection at Line Creek Drive have been put on hold until after the holidays.

City Clerk Betsy Tyler on Monday said traffic along Hwy. 54 West continues to be heavy. The city and DOT have worked with the intersection contractor with the result that there will be no lane closures until after the new year, Tyler said.

Tyler said motorists can still expect some delays during the weekday hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, as the project moves forward.

Tyler noted that the continuous green-T contractor works for the developer of the Overlook retail center now under construction.

The city required the intersection improvements as part of the development, Tyler said.

All work is performed with the permission of DOT, which owns the highway, said Tyler.
