A Jonesboro man was jailed on Dec. 9 after assaulting and biting his fiancée.

Brett Brockman, 26, was charged with aggravated assault, simple battery-family violence and interfering with a 911 call, according to Fayetteville Police spokesman Mike Whitlow.

Whitlow said the charges stemmed from incident that occurred in three locations.

The first incident occurred while at the home of Brockman, believed to be in Clayton County. During an argument between Brockman and his fiancee, Brockman grabbed her and bit her in the face, Whitlow said.

Later the two drove to Fayetteville, and while in transit, another argument began, said Whitlow. It was during that argument that Brockman grabbed his fiancee’s hand and ripped the engagement ring off her finger.

Whitlow said once at the home of her parents in Fayette County and while still in the vehicle, Brockman choked his fiancee, hit her in the shoulder with his fist and bit her both on the lip and on the side of her face.

Whitlow said the woman attempted to call 911 but Brockman grabbed the phone from her. He restrained her from exiting the vehicle and subsequently said that she could leave if she gave Brockman her phone in exchange for her keys, Whitlow said.

The woman went to Piedmont Fayette Hospital and was treated for her injuries, said Whitlow.
