The community is invited to prepare for Christmas through a two-week Advent study, “Two Questions God Asks,” led by Fayetteville First UMC’s associate minister, the Rev. Allyson Lawrence, minister of discipleship and evangelism.
The study preparing for the coming Christ is offered on Wednesdays, Dec. 2 and 9, at 6:15 p.m. and again on Mondays, Dec. 7 and 14, at 11 a.m. Both classes are offered at the FFUMC campus.
“Our Advent study is part of our preparation for this Advent season,” said Lawrence. “During this two-week study, we will take time to stop and to listen to two of the questions God asks. The first question is found in the story of Elijah, in 1 Kings 19, ‘What are you doing here?’ and the second question is found in John, chapter 1, ‘What do you seek?’ The purpose of this study is to help us focus on why it is we, as individuals, are celebrating Christmas and what it is we actually are looking for. I am excited to see what is revealed to us as we attempt to answer God’s questions together.”
Registration is now open for this free study through the church office at 770-461-4313 or online at fayettevillefirst.com. Classes will be held at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church located at 175 East Lanier Avenue, Fayetteville, Georgia, next to the historic courthouse.
