Tyrone’s incumbent mayor, Eric Dial, wins reelection easily

All votes are in, and Councilman Ed Johnson has won his race to oust incumbent Fayetteville Mayor Greg Clifton and in the process has become the first-ever black mayor of a Fayette city.

Also in Fayetteville, Kathaleen Brewer beat incumbent Mickey Edwards for the Post 2 seat, and Harlan Shirley easily turned back a write-in bid by Mimi Oddo for the Post 1 seat. All voting in Fayetteville is at-large; there are no districts.

In Peachtree City, Phil Prebor outdistanced Shayne Robinson by more than 3-to-1 to claim the Post 1 seat being vacated by Eric Imker, who declined to seek reelection.

Voters disliked a tax allocation district proposal and turned it down by 2-to-1.

In Tyrone, incumbent Mayor Eric Dial and incumbent Councilman Ryan Housley turned back challenges by Derrick Jackson and Wil James.

In Senoia, Bobby Graham, the incumbent, was reelected to his Post 4 seat.

Tyrone led Fayette cities in turnout, but it was nothing to shout about. Thirty-two percent of Tyrone’s 5,304 registered voters marked a ballot for the two races in their town, while just under 11 percent of Fayetteville’s nearly 12,000 registered voters came to the polls. Peachtree City had one its most abysmal turnouts ever, with just under 8 percent of its 27,353 registered voters bothering to show up to vote.
