What kind of roses to buy? How do you plant them? How do you prune and fertilize them? If you’ve wondered how to create a rose garden you can be proud of, rose expert Cindy Dale of Peachtree City has all the answers to your questions and more in her talk, “Ten Steps to Growing Great Roses,” at the November Backyard Association Meeting of the Coweta County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers.

Dale is an American Rose Society Master Rosarian and horticulture judge who has been growing roses at her Peachtree City home for 20 years. Her garden is a showplace with about 270 rose bushes accented by perennials, statuary and fountains. It is featured on annual garden tours and has been profiled in Georgia Gardening magazine twice.

Dale is a two-time past president of the South Metro Rose Society in Fayetteville, a local affiliate of the American Rose Society. She is editor of the South Metro Rose Society’s award-winning newsletter and chairs the organization’s annual rose show.

The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at UGA Extension – Coweta County, 255 Pine Road in Newnan. Admission is free, and you need not register in advance to attend unless you want to be registered for the door prizes, usually plants and other gardening goodies.
