A rezoning and variance request that would have established a doctor’s office at the corner of Robinson Road and Ga. Highway 54 East was on the agenda for the Oct. 15 meeting of the Peachtree City Council. The request was withdrawn by the applicant.

Asked about the request being withdrawn, Interim City Manger Jon Rorie said the applicant did not want to spend any more money going forward.

The request was recommended for denial by unanimous vote by the Peachtree City Planning Commission on Oct. 12.

The Peachtree City Council on Oct. 15 was to consider a rezoning and variance request for a .83-acre tract at Ga. Highway 54 and Robinson Road being proposed for a medical office expansion.

The request would have the R-43 Residential zoning changed to Limited Use Commercial (LUC) to accommodate a medical office building.

The triangular-shaped property is designated for office use on the city’s Land Use Map.

Urgent Pain LLC had wanted to expand its operations and move into a new a two-story office building totaling 6,250 sq. ft. The original proposal involved a building totaling 7,872 sq. ft.

Applicant Zenco Development was also requesting a variance relating to tree save and buffer requirements.

The size, shape and configuration of the property were established as part of the Hwy. 54 road re-widening and the realignment of Robinson Road. City staff said it would likely be difficult, if not impossible, to develop the property as currently zoned without granting numerous variances.

Staff recommended approval of the zoning with a number of conditions.

Urgent Pain LLC operates a clinic at neighboring Shakerag Hill. The new location would have enabled the clinic to expand its practice, the applicant said.
