Starr’s Mill and Northgate continue to sit atop Region 4-AAAAA’s Division A after blowouts wins Oct. 16 that took both teams to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in region play.

The Panthers crushed Morrow 57-0 on the road, while the Vikings obliterated visiting Forest Park 68-0. The two teams could both be 8-0 when they meet Oct. 30 at Northgate, the week before play-in games wrap up the regular season.

Other local teams routed their opponents to remain in contention for region titles. Sandy Creek cruised to a 49-7 win over Troup to improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 5-AAAA. In Region 3-AAAAAA, East Coweta (6-1, 3-1) pitched a 34-0 shutout against Pebblebrook.

Two other Region 5-AAAA teams were on the wrong end of lopsided scores, as Woodward Academy won 37-8 over Fayette County and Carrollton beat Whitewater 41-3.

Our Lady of Mercy moved to 2-0 in Region 5-A and 4-4 overall with a 41-0 drubbing of Strong Rock, while Landmark improved to 5-2 and 1-0 with a 48-30 win Saturday over Mt. Vernon.

McIntosh (2-5, 1-3 in Region 4-AAAAA) was off this week.
