A new golf cart crossing on Rockaway Road in south Peachtree City will be outfitted with a hybrid crossing before year’s end.
City Engineer David Borkowski the crossing signal will work when carts or pedestrians come up to it on the path and push the button to activate the signal. Once the button is pushed the signal will flash yellow and then go solid red directing the cars on the road to stop and let the carts or pedestrians cross.
The signal will remain dark unless activated by the path user, Borkowski said.
Borkowski said the signage will be flagged with golf cart symbols.
The project is being funded by Somerby of Peachtree City that is currently expanding its retirement community development.
The new crossing will tie-in to the new cart paths being installed and to the tunnel now open on both sides under Ga. Highway 74 just south of the intersection with Rockaway Road.
