Congregation B’nai Israel in Fayetteville and Chabad of Peachtree City today (Sept. 23) will wrap up their annual observance of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the most solemn occurrence in the Jewish calendar.  Events began last evening (Sept. 22) with the penitential Kol Nidre service.

Today at Congregation B’nai Israel, Rabbi Louis Feldstein will lead a worship and prayer service beginning exactly on the hour at 10 a.m. Congregants have been asked to be in the sanctuary early enough to make a prompt start possible.  After a break, a healing service will be held, followed by individual and group learning sessions starting at 1 p.m.

At 4 p.m. the traditional Yitzkor service will begin, commemorating those who have died, and ending the High Holy Days which began Sept. 13 with the observance of Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year of 5776.  Music will be led by Susan Burden, cantorial soloist and pastoral lay leader.

Congregation B’nai Israel is located on Georgia Route 54, east of downtown Fayetteville.
